Our department offers a four-year undergraduate education in the field of tourism management following a one-year compulsory English preparatory program provided by Dokuz Eylül University School of Foreign Languages — one of Turkey’s most advanced institutions equipped with the necessary visual and auditory technologies for modern language education. The English Preparatory Program is offered at Dokuz Eylül University School of Foreign Languages, located at the Buca Dokuzçeşmeler Campus.
The aim of our program is to graduate students who possess both theoretical knowledge and practical skills to serve in the tourism and hospitality sectors; who are team-oriented, responsible, and capable of effective communication; who can generate, articulate, and debate ideas related to their field of study; who are skilled in problem-solving; and who are conscious of ethical principles, social responsibility, and the importance of lifelong learning.
Our curriculum is designed to train effective, dynamic, and high-quality tourism managers of the future. It is regularly updated to keep pace with global trends and the rapidly evolving tourism ecosystem. Approximately 30% of the curriculum is composed of courses taught in English. These include foundational tourism courses such as Introduction to Tourism, Guest Relations Management, and Tour Planning; food and beverage courses such as Food and Beverage Management and Menu Planning; tourism marketing courses such as Tourism Marketingand Destination Management; and management-oriented courses such as Tourism Managementand Project Management. In addition, students may take elective professional foreign language courses tailored to the tourism industry.
Our program also places strong emphasis on digital literacy. Courses such as Computer Applications (covering basic IT skills), Hotel Automation Programs(featuring Opera software), and Research Methods(including SPSS training) are part of the curriculum.
Within our faculty’s strong ties to the industry, students have the opportunity to meet leading professionals through various talks and seminars, as well as our annual “Career Day” event. Moreover, students are required to complete a 40-day internship to gain hands-on professional experience.
Our faculty also holds Erasmus+ agreements with universities across various regions of Europe, offering students international mobility opportunities.
Additionally, a wide range of academic and socio-cultural events, including seminars, panels, and other organized activities, are held throughout the year.
Taking all these opportunities into account:
If you want to learn from dedicated, dynamic, and open-minded academic staff who are constantly updating themselves in line with the changing world,
If you value studying in a boutique faculty with small class sizes and close communication with your instructors,
If you wish to get ahead of the competition by networking with prominent tourism professionals and accessing internship or job opportunities through our annual “Career Day” event,
If you believe that in addition to a solid education, culture, arts, sports, and communication skills are essential for success in tourism,
Then you are in the right place. We invite you to join us for a university experience that feels like family.
